Meet your fitness coach

Hi, I’m Amy Holmes a qualified fitness coach and trainer from Dublin

I believe that you’re never too old or out of shape to start training. My passion is helping people to improve their quality of life through movement and strength training. I listen carefully to what you want to achieve from training and from life, then design a programme to help you get there.

Your strength training questions answered.

  • Classes run in blocks of 12 sessions and cost €215 per block.

  • Yes, I do. It is a big commitment and I always encourage people to come along and try and class before they sign up. It is very important that you feel comfortable with me as your coach and the other people in the class, don’t worry they are all lovely!!

  • Yes, they are. Almost everyone in the classes was a beginner when they joined. The classes are specifically designed so that everyone goes at their own pace and ability. There are endless modifications to the exercises so it means that if it’s your first day or you’re there for years you will get a workout that is suitable for you.

  • You’ll fit right in! Almost everyone in my classes had never trained before starting with me. Classes are fully programmed and coached by me and are designed that you go at a pace that feels comfortable to you. There are also endless modifications available so if the exercise seems too hard, or too easy, it can be adjusted to your standard.

  • Yes they can. Golf requires stamina, power, mobility and of course patience. By building up the strength in your muscles and working on your flexibility and mobility you will notice a difference in your swing and your stamina on the course. Unfortunately I can’t help with the patience though!

  • Ah, that’s the golden question! There is no definite answer I am afraid but if you train twice a week and pay heed to all the other factors in your life you could start to see improvements and changes within two months - but everyone is different.

  • Chat to me about it before you commit to anything. If you have clearance to train from your doctor or physio then all I require is some details on the nature of the injury or pain. If you haven’t had them checked then we will discuss this in full. Sometimes pain occurs because the body needs to move more in a particular direction, sometimes a few sessions of physio are advisable before or alongside training.

I have worked with many people and many injuries over the years and I will always err on the side of caution. I have seen many recoveries over the years and people who have gone on to train fully and pain free. I have built up many relationships with physios over the years and the biggest successes have been where the client, the physio and myself have worked as a team.

  • No. I hold separate women only and men only classes. Check out the schedule to see when they are.

  • Currently the classes take place in the S&C gym in Wesley College, Ballinteer.

  • You can book on the website or by calling or WhatsApp me on 086 8907 144.

  • I do and all the information can be found on my Personal Training page or you can contact me directly.
